summer / Spring Break CAmps / School Holidays

SUMMER CAMP: Summer is our most popular time and we spend most of our time on the beach in Santa Monica. Our location is out by Lifeguard Tower 26, which is near where Ocean Park Blvd. meets the ocean. Our average ages are 3-6 years old although we welcome younger / older children at our camp. Many children with younger siblings often attend together. We also accept private groups. Contact info@coastalkidsla.com for all the details including our rates. For those that are unfamiliar with our programs, we are a play based outdoor enrichment program and each day is a unique adventure. We have everything available that you can think of in a fun beach day: water play, shovels / buckets / sand toys, surfer dudes, digging for sand crabs, making sand castles, ropes for tug of war, dolphin watching and finding other sea life, treasure hunts, boogie boards, baseball games and other sports, parachute games, art projects, drawing, reading books, finding seashells, digging huge holes and much more. The flow of the day depends on children's interests as they are free to pick and choose what activities they would like to participate in. Ultimately the main attractions are the water and the sand.

Water Safety: The number one question we get is “my child cannot swim, are they still ok to attend camp?” Being a father of two young children I 100% understand your concern. And the answer to that question is, “Yes, of course they are!!” 99%+ of our campers (including my daughters) over the years have not known how to swim and we have not had one single issue with water safety in our 12 plus years out on the beach. We keep a low ratio, hire experienced and knowledable staff and are teaching the children about water conditions, currents, rip tides and sea life. For added safety we set up just down from the life guard station. For even the children that don’t touch the water in the beginning, it is amazing to see their progression in comfortability around the ocean and ability in the ocean. Everyone is on their own path and goes at their own pace, but I now see former campers surfing and even my own 4 year old picking up bodysurfing and boogie boarding. Children are not pressured at all to do anything they are not ready for. It is amazing to see what even just the ocean exposure in being out there will do to spark a child’s lifelong relationship with the ocean.

SPRING BREAK: Spring Break is similar to summer camp, but we will mix in some days out on the trail or field trips days with less kids.

We are open during most school holidays and breaks.  Any day that your child is off school (parent / teacher conferences, random holidays) we are normally open for fun outdoor adventures.
